You may know James Todd Smith as the actor in movies like "Any Given Sunday" or "Halloween H20" or TV shows like "NCIS" but do you know him as the rapper "LL Cool J"?

Releasing his first single "I Need a Beat" in 1984 at the age of 16, LL Cool J has since released 12 albums. He is a two-time grammy winner, and is known for hits such as "Going Back to Cali", "Mama Said Knock You Out", "Doin' It" and "I Need Love".

His stage name "LL Cool J" was coined by his friend and fellow rapper Mikey D.
